Make Gelatin In Gelatin Molds

Gelatin made in molds can be a festive dish to serve at a party, or a fun summer snack in the afternoon or evening. Children love eating gelatin molded in the shape of their favorite character. Make your mold with plain gelatin or add some stir ins for a gelatin salad.

Instructions

1. Follow package directions for mixing the gelatin. Typically it requires one part boiling water to one part cold water be added to the dry mixture.

2. Put the powdered gelatin into a large bowl. Add the boiling water and stir with a metal spoon, scraping the bowl often, until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

3. Add the required amount of cold water and continue stirring to mix.

4. Spray the gelatin mold with a non-flavored cooking spray, or use a paper towel wet with vegetable oil to grease the mold.

5. Pour the gelatin into the mold and then place it carefully in the refrigerator to set and harden.

6. Remove the gelatin mold from the refrigerator when it is partially set if you want to stir other ingredients into it. You should do this when the gelatin has set for around an hour and is the consistency of thick egg whites. Stir in the fruit, nuts, vegetables, or other ingredients for gelatin salad.

7. Put the filled mold back in the refrigerator to continue setting for another hour or so.
