Make Garlic Butter Compound

Butter is a basic kitchen staple. When whipped together with spices and herbs, it becomes a versatile French condiment referred to as compound butter. Compound butter is butter that has been creamed with spices and herbs, formed into a log, and refrigerated until needed. Keep a homemade batch of compound butter in your refrigerator to spread on crusty bread, top a steak, season boring vegetables, or dress up a baked potato.

Instructions

1. Chop the garlic cloves finely or mash them into a puree.

2. Place the butter, garlic and parsley in a large bowl.

3. Combine the ingredients using an electric mixer. Beat the mixture on a medium speed until it is well blended (about two minutes.)

4. Add salt to taste.

5. Shape the compound into a log and cover it well with plastic wrap or place it in an air-tight container.

6. Allow the compound to remain at room temperature for one hour so that the flavors develop.

7. Place the compound in the refrigerator or freezer.
