Store Carrots







Carrots make a crisp, crunchy, healthy snack when eaten fresh and raw, and are a great side addition to a meal when cooked. But no one likes brown, rubbery carrots, which can happen if you don't store them correctly. Learn store carrots properly in order to ensure maximum longevity and optimum freshness so you can enjoy them whenever you crave that big dose of beta carotene.

Buy Carrots


1. Comparison shop to find the best carrot deals.


2. Choose carrots that are fresh, ripe, bright orange, and hard. Stay away from carrots that have turned brownish or feel rubbery.


3. Shop for enough carrots to last you for about 2 weeks.


Prepare Carrots








4. Wash all the carrots thoroughly with cold running water when you get home.


5. Place all the carrots into a plastic container that has a lid. If you don't have a large enough container, divide the carrots in half and place into 2 smaller containers.


6. Fill the large container (or 2 smaller containers) with cold water until the carrots are completely covered.


7. Put the lid on the container.

8. Put the container with the carrots inside your refrigerator. If you have a vegetable crisper, and the container fits inside, put it in there.


9. Change the water in the container about every 4 days to keep it fresh. Your carrots should stay crisp and fresh for 2 weeks.
