Roll A Yule Log

There are some special treats that only come around once a year--during Christmas time. Christmas pudding, Christmas cookies and of course the Yule log are holiday treats that can light up the season. The Yule log is delicious to eat, but a little tricky to make. Here is roll a Yule log for your friends and family to enjoy.

Instructions

1. Keep your Yule log moist before you roll it. During the course of the recipe, before rolling, you will be setting your Yule log aside to rest. Set the Yule log on a piece of plastic wrap and cover it with another piece of plastic wrap so that the cake stays moist. Otherwise as you try to roll it, the cake will crumble from lack of moisture.

2. Remove the top layer of plastic wrap. Leave the bottom layer so that you can work with the Yule log on your counter.

3. Add your premade mousse filling on top of the cake. Using a spatula, spread around the filling so that you get a nice even layer. And don't worry about needing to make the layer thin, as the cake should be able to hold a nice thick layer.

4. Lift your plastic wrap on one side of the cake. Use both hands to lift the plastic wrap so that you have an even grip on one side of the cake.

5. Roll your Yule log. Make the first roll so that it is tight to the cake. This first roll will be more of a "fold." Then continue to repeat the roll until you've rolled the entire cake.

6. Tuck the plastic wrap under the edge of the cake once you have rolled it. This will keep the cake from springing backward and allow it to hold its shape.

7. Set the Yule log on a platter and place it in the fridge for about 1 hour. By allowing it to cool in the fridge, the form of the Yule log will set. After you take it out, you are ready to frost and complete your Yule Log.
