Hang sheets from a Hula Hoop to make a play tent.
Hula Hoops are a fun toy on their own, but you can use them to make play tents with just a few old bedding materials. You can suspend the play tents in a house or in a backyard, giving children the opportunity to create imaginative games and scenarios. Have kids help you create this simple play tent so they feel a sense of ownership and excitement toward it.
Instructions
1. Cut a pillowcase down both sides of the seam. Stop at the center seam on both sides so that you are left with a long rectangular piece of fabric.
2. Sew the ends of two twin sheets around the perimeter of the piece of cut pillowcase fabric. Sew the entire perimeter of the rectangular piece to the twin sheets.
3. Cut a hole in the center of the rectangular piece of fabric. The hole should be big enough for string to pass through, but no larger.
4. Place a Hula Hoop underneath the sewn sheets and rectangular fabric.
5. Tie two 6-foot pieces of string to opposite sides of the Hula Hoop in secure knots. Run the two strings from the knots on the hoop and up through the hole in the center of the fabric.
6. Slide a metal washer ring down the strings on the top and outside of the rectangular fabric. This will hold the string securely in place and prevent the string from rubbing a larger hole in the fabric.
7. Use the two pieces of string to pull the hoop up and suspend the hoop with the sheets hanging from it. Tie the string above the suspended hoop securely to a wooden beam or a tree branch.
