Cut and freeze your hash browns in individual patties.
Hash browns were served at some of the finer New York City hotels in the 1890s, according to the Idaho Potato Official Site. Over the years, hash browns have evolved from a low-cost breakfast treat into a hearty side dish filled with onions, green peppers, ham and other ingredients. Making and freezing homemade hash browns will save you money by allowing you to use your leftover baked or fried potatoes, and any raw potatoes, that might otherwise wind up in the trash.
Instructions
1. Spray a shallow baking pan with nonstick cooking spray and spread the hash browns in a single layer on top.
2. Cover the hash browns with a piece of waxed paper. Set the hash browns and baking sheet into the freezer.
3. Leave the hash browns in the freezer for two to three hours, or until they're completely frozen.
4. Remove the shallow baking pan and separate the frozen hash browns into zippered
5. Label the freezer bags with the date and contents. Freeze and enjoy the homemade hash browns for up to one year.
