Bake A Frozen Pie Crust

Many recipes call for a pre-baked pastry pie shell. If you don't want to make your own crust from scratch, a frozen pie crust is a great option. Frozen pastry pie crusts are available in the freezer section of most grocery stores. They usually come two to a package in disposable foil pans. Here are some tips for baking the perfect frozen pie crust.

Instructions

1. Position the oven rack in the center of the oven.

2. Preheat the oven according to package directions, usually 400 degrees F.

3. Remove the pie crust from the freezer and thaw on the counter for about 15 minutes.

4. Prick the bottom and sides of the crust dough with a fork. This helps prevent bubbles from forming in the crust as it bakes.

5. Place the pie crust directly on the oven rack in the center of the oven.

6. Bake the pie crust according to package directions (about 10 minutes) or until the crust is golden brown.

7. Cool the pie crust completely before filling.
