Can Pomegranates Be Frozen

Pomegranate Seeds

Pomegranates are native to the Middle Eastern region. They are an exotic fruit that have often been referred to in mythological lore by several cultures. These fruits are both nutritious and delicious. They can be stored on the counter top, in the refrigerator or freezer.

Frozen for Freshness

Both pomegranate seeds and juice can be frozen to retain freshness and maintain the natural flavor of the fruit.

Freezing Juice

Freshly extracted pomegranate juice, which is a good source of potassium, freezes well in plastic containers and freezer bags.

Freezing Seeds

Pomegranate seeds freeze well when frozen individually on a cookie sheet. This method prevents the pomegranate seeds from sticking together.Individually frozen seeds can be used just like fresh pomegranate seeds when thawed.

Packing Seeds

Pomegranate seeds can also be frozen in a syrup made from sugar and water. Seeds stored in this mixture work well for fruity desserts.

Freezer Life

Pomegranates can be stored in a freezer for up to three months.
