Make Your Own Miniature Gumball Machine

Children love gum in every shape and flavor.

Children love to make crafts that they can decorate and personalize for their bedrooms or homes. Making a miniature gumball machine is an enjoyable craft for Scout troops, fundraisers and craft fairs or just to entertain the kids on a cold, wintry afternoon. Homemade gumball dispensers are great for candy or to store other snacks such as nuts or pretzels.

Instructions

1. Paint the terra cotta pot, the round ball and the two saucers with acrylic paint in the color of your choice and a small paintbrush, as suggested by the Wrap Candy website. Allow these items to dry.

2. Turn the pot upside down and glue one of the saucers to it, so that it resembles a birdbath. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

3. Turn the second saucer face-down onto a worktable and glue the round wooden ball to the center. Let the glue dry. The ball will make the knob of the gumball machine.

4. Spray a coat of clear gloss sealer or finish to the painted pieces once they are totally dry.

5. Glue the bubble or fishbowl to the top of the pot and saucer combination. The pot will still be facing downward. Make sure the fishbowl opening is facing upward. This will allow your hand to retrieve candy or nuts. Let the glue dry.

6. Pour candy into the fishbowl and place the saucer with the knob on top of the fishbowl as a lid. Monitor the candy level because this craft will be a hit in your household and will need careful attention to keep it filled with goodies.
