Find Dry Wines

Finding the perfect dry wine can be very rewarding.

Dry wines, or table wines, are wines which have a sugar level between 1.2 and 1.4 percent, making them far less sugary than the average sweet wine. Dry wines are typically paired with savory foods, but they're also commonly used in cooking. Finding the right dry wine can be challenging, but with a little foresight and consideration you can discover the perfect wine for you.

Instructions

1. Think about how you intend to use the wine. Will you be cooking with it, serving it with a meal, or enjoying it on its own? All of these factors determine which type of dry wine you should buy.

2. Decide between a dry red wine, or a dry white wine. Red wines are generally paired with fish, pasta and red meats. White wines are generally paired with white meat and salads. If you're cooking with wine, the type of wine is generally specified in the recipe.

3. Look up your local wineries. Call them and ask about their selection of dry wines, and inquire about upcoming wine tastings.

4. Attend a wine tasting at your local winery. Trying numerous types of dry wines is a great way to find the perfect wine for you.

5. Ask the sommelier (the wine steward) for suggestions. Remember to keep in mind what you will be serving with the wine, the types of wine you enjoy, and who you will be serving it to.
