Reduce Spiciness From Soup


When you give your soup a taste test, if your mouth starts to burn, your nose starts to run and your eyes start to water, then it's too spicy. But there is no reason that soup should go to waste. There are ways to tone down that strong flavor so that you and your guests can enjoy the meal.


Instructions








1. Remove spicy elements. If you have pepper slices or other spicy components in your soup, scoop them out if you are able to.


2. Add neutralizing ingredients. Add more of whatever the main solid ingredient is in your soup, such as potatoes or noodles. Depending on the type of soup you have made, there are ingredients that help counteract chilies, such as sugar, acids and dairy products. Adding some cheese might help calm a variety of soups. A pinch of lime juice may also help. You can also serve your soup over rice to help mellow out the spicy effects.


3. Offer other ingredients at the table. If you end up serving that super spicy soup, then provide bread, milk or yogurt to help calm things down after eating the soup.
