Use A Screwpull

For many years, the only thing people could use to open wine bottles was a corkscrew, but these had inherent problems. To solve these problems, the screwpull was invented. This device combines a corkscrew with a lever to make opening bottles of wine easier. If you have never used a screwpull before, you might want to practice before opening a bottle in front of others. Follow these guidelines to quickly open bottles of wine with a screwpull.

Instructions

1. Use the foil cutter to cut the foil seal from around the top of the wine bottle.

2. Raise the lever arm of the screwpull all the way up so it is in the open position.

3. Place the handles of the screwpull so they grip the top of the wine bottle. You should see the black pins sticking out from the metal central axis.

4. Push the lever down slowly into the closed position. This will lower the corkscrew into the cork.

5. Pull the arm back up gently to pull the cork from the bottle. Your bottle will now be open. Follow the next step to remove the cork from the corkscrew if you have a bottle with a natural cork.

6. Push the arm back into the closed position and then open it again. This will release the cork from the corkscrew. Unscrew synthetic corks by hand from the corkscrew instead of using the release function.
