Make Christmas Cookie Plates

One of the best things about Christmas is Christmas cookies. Sharing your family favorite recipes for Christmas cookies can truly be a gift from the heart. Decorating Christmas cookie plates is easy and fun with a little pre-planning and organization.

Instructions

1. Allow for enough space between cookies when laying out cookies on the plate. You want to be generous and give someone plenty of cookies, but you also want the arrangement of cookies to look attractive on the plate.

2. Place hardier cookies on the bottom of the plate. These will often be your drop cookies that come out in circles, or your molded cookies which are often "slice and bake." Usually these cookies are round in shape.

3. Put cookies that have jam or other filled centers in the middle. These cookies can be heavier and will do well in the middle.

4. Set the cookie cutter formed cookies on top, such as the gingerbread men. Also on top place any iced cookies. Cookies that go on top should be your "show stoppers."

5. Have something pretty to go at the very center, whether this be candied nuts or actual candy. Miniature candy canes are an excellent, and easy-to-find choice.

6. Cover your Christmas cookie plates with plastic wrap. Consider using red or green plastic wrap if you like the way it looks with your plates.

7. Top your Christmas cookie plates with a Christmas card to the person you are giving the Christmas cookies. This can come in handy in case you need to leave the Christmas cookie plate with someone else.
