Pop Corn Kernels In The Microwave

Popcorn can easily be made at home with a brown paper bag.

Popcorn is one of the most popular snack foods. It can be made in a variety of ways -- from an air popper to the old-fashioned method of cooking on the stove. The most popular method of popping the kernels, however, is in the microwave. Easy-to-cook, pre-made bags of popcorn that can be purchased at the supermarket are not the only means of making popped corn in the microwave. With a few simple ingredients, cheap, easy and fast microwaved popcorn can be made.

Instructions

1. Measure out 1/4 cup of popcorn and set it aside.

2. Open the brown paper bag fully, and place it on the counter.

3. Pour the kernels in gently. Fold the rim of the paper bag over twice, leaving a lip of about 1 inch.

4. Place the bag horizontally in the microwave, with the folds facing down.

5. Set the microwave for two minutes on the normal temperature. Allow the popcorn to pop, and after about one and a half minutes, the popping should slow. When there is a gap of five seconds between each pop, remove the bag from the microwave.

6. Shake the bag as you remove it from the microwave; this puts the unpopped kernels at the bottom of the bag. Slowly open the top, careful not to let the steam burn yourself. Enjoy the freshly popped popcorn with a variety of toppings.
