Make Homemade Caramel Sauce

Make homemade caramel sauce.

Caramel sauce added to ice cream or your favorite dessert can create instant indulgence. You can also incorporate it easily into other treats to create a new flavor. Homemade caramel sauce, which can be made with sugar, butter and condensed milk, can also be added to the breakfast table to complement pancakes and brunch.

Instructions

1. Mix the sugar and condensed milk together in medium saucepan. Cook on medium heat until sugar dissolves completely. Set the mixture aside.

2. Melt the butter in another small saucepan, and stir in the vanilla and milk. Let the mixture simmer on low heat until mixture is smooth -- about one to two minutes.

3. Stir the butter mixture into the sugar mixture slowly to finish the caramel sauce. Let it stand for about three to five minutes until mixture becomes thick.

4. Pour the mixture into bowl or small pitcher and cover. Store in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve it.
