Make Homemade Doughnuts







Homemade doughnuts are fun and easy to make. They are a great way to spend time with your kids in the kitchen and choosing the toppings is always fun. Homemade doughnuts are a great alternative to the daily routine of breakfast.


Instructions


1. Mix two cups of the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and a quarter teaspoon of salt into a bowl.


2. Combine the melted butter and milk into a medium bowl.








3. Add the eggs, sugar and vanilla into a large mixing bowl and beat for about three minutes (or until thick) with an electric mixer.


4. Add dry mixture and milk mixture alternately to the egg mixture. Beat after each addition until combined, then stir in the remaining cup of flour. Cover dough and chill for two hours.


5. Roll the dough until about half an inch thick on a floured surface. Cut the dough with a doughnut cutter. Keep the doughnut cutter floured.


6. Fry the homemade doughnuts in oil at 375 degrees. Cook about one minute on each side or until a golden color. Drain on paper towels and cool on a wire rack.


7. Sugar the homemade doughnuts by placing the warm ones in a bag of sugar and shaking them. Powdered sugar or granulated sugar can by used. The doughnuts can also be enjoyed plain.
