Make Soup

No food fills you up and comforts you at the same time like homemade soup. You can use up leftovers or combine fresh ingredients to make a variety of fabulous soups. Follow these tips to get started making soup today.

Instructions

Meat Based

1. Find a large pot. Make a broth by placing meat or meat with bones in a large pot. Cover the meat with water. Boil the water until the meat is thoroughly cooked and falls off the bones. Remove the meat and bones from the pot.

2. Strain the broth to remove any bits of meat left in the pot. Pick the meat off of the bones and chop it into bite sized pieces. Place the meat back into the pot. Discard the bones.

3. Chop up root vegetables like celery and carrots into bite sized pieces. Add them to pot. Add spices like garlic, onion, oregano or powdered stock to the broth to season. Taste the broth and adjust the spices as needed.

4. Bring the broth to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer until vegetables are tender. Add rice or noodles if you like a thicker soup.

5. Cook the broth for 10 minutes or until the noodles or rice is tender. Serve with fresh bread.

Vegetable Based

6. Start with 3 vegetable cubes and half a pot of water. Dissolve the cubes in boiling water.
