Make Matzo Meal

Matzo meal is made from finely ground matzo and is an ingredient in a wide range of kosher foods. You can buy prepared matzo meal from the kosher section of your grocery store, but making it is both easy and economical.

Instructions

1. Buy unsalted, plain matzo to make your matzo meal. Though you can bake your own matzo, it's a laborious practice if you're just baking it to turn it into matzo meal.

2. Use a food processor to create matzo meal. Put a few pieces of matzo into your processor and process on high for a minute. Check the meal for consistency. If there are still large pieces of matzo, process for a few more seconds. Keep processing until the matzo meal is as finely ground as you want it.

3. Place matzo in a plastic bag if you don't want to use a food processor to create the matzo meal. Seal the bag and crush the matzo with a rolling pin or with a small mallet. To finish your matzo meal, pour it into a shallow tray, such as a baking sheet, and crush it further.

4. Use the matzo meal immediately or place it in a sealed plastic bag to store for later use.
