Make Your Own Diego Costume

Diego and his pals, Baby Jaguar and Dora, are beloved cartoons by many preschool and elementary school children. They rescue animals and help save the day while teaching children Spanish, manners and love and take care of animals. This Halloween, you can make a simple Diego costume for your child that won't break the bank. You can even help teach your child to say "Happy Halloween" or "Trick or Treat" in Spanish so they will be a truly authentic character.

Instructions

1. Wear a khaki colored fishing vest over a light blue or teal T-shirt. Navy blue shorts with pockets will help make the costume look more authentic.

2. Spray an old pair of sneakers with navy blue spray paint. Allow to dry over night. Wear white socks with the sneakers.

3. Add a small orange backpack and gather 9 feet of rope to wear as accessories. Drape the rope across the child's chest so he will appear prepared for anything while on his adventure. A stuffed baby jaguar placed just inside the backpack will also make a great accessory.
