Vegetarian Chinese Food







A lot of Chinese food involves pork, beef and chicken, but there are also a lot of other dishes that do not contain meat. Some of these foods are side dishes and others are main courses.


Tofu


Tofu is a substance that is derived from soy beans and it is a staple in Chinese vegetarian food.


Rice


Rice is prepared steamed or fried. Vegetarian fried rice is a common Chinese side dish as an alternative to pork fried rice.


Noodles








Noodles are one of the main ingredients in vegetable lo mein, which is a mixture of noodles and vegetables with a light sauce on it.


Egg


Vegetarian egg rolls are made with chopped up vegetables that are surrounded by a deep fried crust.


Chow Mein


Vegetable chow mein is a medley of Chinese vegetables that are surrounded with butter and a clear sauce.


Cookies


Fortune cookies are a common vegetarian Chinese food. Some of the main ingredients are egg whites, flour, sugar, vanilla extract and water.
