Make Chocolatecovered Almonds Without Refined Sugar







Interested in making a chocolatey snack at home for yourself and your family that does not involve refined white sugar? Today that is not so difficult if you use alternate sweeteners such as maple syrup or rice syrup.These can be found in most health food stores.Chocolate-covered almonds will fit the bill. Almonds are low in carbs and grain- or malt sweetened chocolate will not spike blood sugar levels. This snack is fancy enough to make and present as a gift or to simply make and hoard at home for yourself.


Instructions


Make Chocolate-Covered Almonds Without Refined Sugar


1. Melt the chocolate chips in the top part of a double broiler on low heaton top of the stove. (Do not microwave).


2. Stir until smooth and remove from heat. Allow to cool completely.








3. Spread the raw almonds on a baking sheet and brown in a oven set at 325 degreesFahrenheit. This will take about 5- 6 minutes.


4. Remove from the oven and allow almonds to cool completely on another baking sheet.


5. Combine both the chocolate and almonds in a large stainless steel bowl once they have cooled.


6. Drop by generous tablespoons onto baking sheets lined with wax paper and freeze overnight.


7. Remove chocolate-covered almond clusters and store in an air-tight, covered container after freezing.These candies can be kept at room temperature or stored in the freezer and allowed to return to room temperature before serving.
