Uses For Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is one of America's most-beloved snacks and a staple of many diets. It is thought to have been pioneered by Africans who use ground peanuts in stews. In the book "Origins of Everyday Things," the authors discuss how four Americans were instrumental in bringing peanut butter to the masses. George Bayle Jr., a food producer, was persuaded by a physician to start making a peanut butter-like substance as a protein-rich substitute to be used by older patients who could no longer chew. Dr. Harvey Kellogg and his brother W.M., who would later found Kellogg's cereals, made a precursor of peanut butter called nut meal and even patented the process. George Washington Carver is credited with creating the peanut butter we enjoy today. The process of making peanut butter was not a one-time event, but rather an evolution.Today, peanut butter is used for a variety of purposes, not the least of which is the ever-popular peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Mouse Trap

Peanut butter can be used as bait in a mousetrap. Set the mousetrap and put peanut butter where the bait would go. The mice won't be able to resist the peanut butter and cannot eat the peanut butter without tripping the trap

Deodorizer

Use peanut butter to rid your house of fish odors. Put about 1 tbsp. of peanut butter in a pan while frying fish. The peanut butter will absorb the odor.

Stopper for Ice Cream Cones

Use a little bit of peanut butter to plug a leak in an ice cream cone.

Removing gum from hair
