It is made with raisins, apples and oatmeal bread. However, these ingredients can be substituted for others, or you can add your favorite ingredients to the mixture.

Instructions

1. Allow the oatmeal bread to sit out overnight to dry. Cut it into small cubes the next day. Peel the apples and chop them into cubes. Chop the onion into small pieces.

2. Crack the eggs in a small mixing bowl and beat them thoroughly. Melt butter in a microwave or over the stove.

3. Combine the dried bread, beaten eggs, chopped apples and onion, raisins, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Toss with your hands to combine the ingredients.

4. Drizzle melted butter and cold water over the stuffing mixture. Use a fork to stir and combine. Make sure to all the bread is thoroughly moistened.

5. Use the stuffing to stuff a 12 to 24 pound bird. Or alternatively, bake the stuffing in the oven in a casserole dish for one hour at 350 degrees F. Drizzle it with chicken or turkey broth on top for added flavor.
