Cook Wheat Germ Cereal

Wheat germ is the embryo of a kernel of wheat. It's a good source of vitamin E and folic acid, and also contains protein, potassium, iron, magnesium and several other nutrients. Wheat germ can be eaten raw and sprinkled on foods, or baked and cooked with other foods. Wheat germ cereal is a healthy way to start the day. It can easily be cooked in the top of a double boiler.

Instructions

1. Place the double boiler on the stovetop. Lift the top off and fill the bottom halfway up with water. Heat the water to boiling.

2. Replace the top on the double boiler. Pour a pint of water into the upper part of the double boiler. Add a 1/4 tsp. of salt and bring the water to a boil.

3. Sprinkle 1/2 a cup of wheat germ cereal into the top of the double boiler slowly. Set a kitchen timer for six minutes. Stir the wheat germ constantly while it cooks. When the timer goes off, place the lid on the double boiler and continue to cook the wheat germ cereal an additional for 30 minutes.
