Protect The Base Of A Mailbox Post From Weed Whacking

Protcting the post of your mailbox from weed whacking takes a few minutes.

Mailbox posts take a lot of abuse. Dogs urinate on them, cars hit them if they're too close to the road and weed whackers chip away at their bases. While some wear and tear on the mailbox post is unavoidable, weed whacker damage is preventable with some planning and diligence. Protecting the base of your mailbox from weed whacking can be done in a few minutes with just a few supplies.

Instructions

1. Spray a chemical weed killer around the base of your mailbox to kill off any weeds in that area. This will eliminate the need for a weed whacker to go near the post of your mailbox.

2. Wrap a protective cover, such as a sheet of brass or rubber, around the bottom of the post and screw it in place. This will provide armor against a weed whacker attack.

3. Place bricks or a tire in the area around your mailbox. This will make it harder for weeds to grow in the area and also make it harder for a weed whacker to get near the post.
