Take A Pegasus Widespread Faucet Apart

Pegasus faucets are the house brand for Home Depot. The handles of the widespread faucet are separate from the spout. When replacing a Pegasus widespread faucet, it is necessary to take apart the faucet. Although the removal process is generally the same as most other faucets, the Pegasus widespread faucet uses a separate water line that connects to the handles and spout. When taking apart a Pegasus widespread faucet, it is necessary to remove the direct line before continuing with the disassembly process.

Instructions

1. Go under your sink and turn off the two water shut-off valves. The valve handles turn in a clockwise direction to stop the water flow. Turn on the faucet handles on the Pegasus widespread faucet to drain any remaining water in the line. Once the water is out of the lines, turn the faucet handles to the closed position.

2. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings securing the direct hose from the faucet handles to the spout. There is a single hose that connects to both faucet handles and the spout. Grasp each quick-connect fitting with your hand. Push up on the whole fitting while sliding the collar down. Pull the fitting away from the faucet handles and spout, and remove the hoses from the sink.

3. Release the quick-connect fitting connecting the side sprayer hose to the spout in the same manner, if you have a side sprayer. Remove the two screws securing the weight collar to the sprayer hose with a Phillips screwdriver. Take the collar off the hose.

4. Loosen the water line connection on each faucet handle with a wrench. Once the connection is loose, unthread the water line completely from the faucet handles with your fingers.

5. Turn the plastic nuts securing the faucet handles, spout and side sprayer holder counterclockwise with a pair of slip-joint pliers. Once the nuts are loose, remove them by hand and take off the flat washers.

6. Go to the top of the sink and pull out each faucet handle, the spout and the side sprayer.
