Make A Peanut Butter Banana Protein Shake

Make your own protein shakes at home for a delicious after-workout recovery drink.

Consuming protein shakes as a meal replacement, supplement or as work out recovery drink is a common practice among nutrition and exercise aficionados. However, you will find that some varieties of protein powder are difficult to drink due to their sweet flavor or unpleasant texture. You can buffer the flavor of an unappetizing protein powder by including fruits such as bananas and strawberries along with nut butters like peanut, almond, hazelnut or pecan in the mix. One of the more popular combinations is chocolate, peanut butter and banana.

Instructions

1. Place 1/2 cup ice in the body of a blender.

2. Add one serving of your chosen protein powder to the blender cup along with 3/4 cup of milk.

3. Attach the lid to the blender and blend the ingredients until smooth.

4. Chop one to two bananas into chunks and add this to the blender while it is running.

5. Scoop in 2 tbsp. of peanut butter (chunky or smooth is fine and depends on your preference) and continue blending until all of the ingredients are completely combined.

6. Taste the mixture and adjust the levels of banana, peanut butter and ice as desired. If the mixture becomes too thick you can thin it with additional milk.
