Uses For Ranch Dressing Mix







Ranch dressing over salad is only one use.


Ranch dressing adds a smooth creamy flavor to any meal. Many people think the dressing is just for salads or as a dip but its uses stretch farther than that. Dry mixes are inexpensive as well as readily available at any retail store that carries groceries or supermarkets.


Spinach Lasagna Roll Ups


Spinach lasagna roll ups are an interesting spin on the classic Italian entr e. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place pre-cooked lasagna noodles flat on an oily surface. Mix one packet of ranch dressing mix with 8 oz. of cream cheese then add 10 oz. of frozen spinach. Spread 2 tbsp. of the mixture on each noodle. Roll the noodles and place them seem down onto a baking dish. Take the remaining cheese and spinach mixture and whisk it over medium heat in a saucepan. Add 8 oz. of tomato sauce as well as 3/4 cup of whole milk. As it bubbles, pour over the lasagna then bake for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, sprinkle with 4 oz. of mozzarella cheese and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until brown.


Original Ranch Snack Mix








Original ranch snack mix is a quick and simple treat that works well for travel or parties. Combine 8 cups of a cereal of your choice (best if not an overly sweet cereal) with 2.5 cups of small pretzels in a gallon-size plastic bag. Pour 3 tbsp. of vegetable oil into the bag then seal. Shake the contents until the oil evenly coats everything. Unseal the bag and add a 1-oz. packet of ranch salad dressing mix. Seal and toss the bag again before serving.


Ranch-Seasoned Holiday Turkey


Hidden Valley holiday turkey offers a way to shake up the conventional holiday meal. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine a ½ cup of unsalted butter with a 1-oz. packet of powdered ranch dressing mix. Clean your hands thoroughly before touching the turkey. Also, completely rinse the turkey and pat dry. The turkey should weigh between 12 and 14 lbs. Separate the breast skin from the breast. Distribute the ranch mixture evenly under the newly separated skin. Take any remaining dry mix in the packet and dust over the turkey. Cover and roast for three hours then uncover for another 30 minutes of cooking. Juices run clear and the internal temperature will reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit when done.


Veggie Paints


Veggie paints with broccoli and carrot brushes are a good way to involve younger family members. Stir one -oz. carton of sour cream, one 8-oz. carton of plain yogurt and a .4-oz. envelope of dry ranch dressing mix into a bowl. Chill the dressing up to 24 hours before serving. Use baby carrots or broccoli spears to paint the mixture as well as yellow mustard on flour tortillas.
