Make A Strawberry Pie Using A Ginger Ale Drink

Select shiny, firm strawberries for the tastiest pies.

Strawberry pie is the perfect summer dessert. Cool, sweet and refreshing, this pie is great for impressing guests or for a relaxing evening at home. You can give your next strawberry pie an extra kick with the addition of ginger ale. The soda adds flavor and sweetness, allowing you to skimp on additional sugar. Start your strawberry pie ahead of time since it will need a few hours to cool. This pie is best during the summer months when strawberries are in season.

Instructions

1. Bake the pie shell according to package directions or until it is golden brown.

2. Combine strawberry gelatin, ginger ale, cornstarch and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until the gelatin has dissolved, about five to seven minutes.

3. Rinse and hull strawberries while the gelatin mixture cooks. Slice strawberries in halves or quarters. If you prefer, mash half of the strawberries and leave the other half in slices.

4. Remove the gelatin mixture from heat and allow to cool for five minutes. Add strawberries to the mixture and stir until well-combined.

5. Pour the strawberry filling into the baked pie shell. Refrigerate until set, about four hours. Garnish slices of pie with whipped cream and serve.
