Use A CrèMe Brulee Torch

The creme brulee torch may have a home in the kitchen, but you don't have to keep it stored in a cupboard for those special dessert occasions. The torch can be used in the kitchen for many other dishes, and around the house for several quick tasks.

Instructions

1. Make creme brulee following your favorite recipe. To caramelize the top, turn the torch on and adjust the flame so it shoots out a minimal flame. Wave the torch just over the surface of the brulee until the sugar caramelizes and turns golden brown.

2. Brown vegetables, lasagna, ribs, and any other foods that need that final browning before serving.

3. Melt the cheese on bread by holding the torch over each piece for a few seconds until the cheese bubbles and browns.

4. Finish meringue on pies, baked Hawaii or other desserts with the torch using a slow sweeping motion over the surface for a few seconds.

5. Get rid of those pesky weeds in a small flower garden. Brush the torch flame over the top of the weeds, and they'll shrivel right up.

6. Store the torch in a safe place away from children. Some creme brulee torches come with stands to keep the torch sitting upright. Others also have safety locks to ensure they aren't ignited by accident.
