Make Vegan Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate made without milk or cream creates a delicious, healthy and cruelty-free treat. Vegan hot chocolate or cocoa can satisfy a vegan's sweet tooth and fool non-vegans into drinking something good. Use the following instructions to make vegan hot chocolate.

Instructions

1. Buy pure dark chocolate, cocoa powder, or hot chocolate powder without the following non-vegan ingredients: butter, butter oil, butterfat, milk, milk powder, cream, whey, casein and caseinate. Watch for special bolded allergen notices warning "contains milk ingredients or dairy products."

2. Buy soy milk. Use either sweetened vanilla flavored, chocolate flavored, or unsweetened.

3. Steam the soy milk on the stove top.

4. Melt the vegan dark chocolate on a stove top double boiler (if using bar chocolate).

5. Remove the soy milk from heat. Stir in the melted chocolate or vegan powdered chocolate or cocoa.

6. Add a few drops of vanilla extract or vanilla syrup and whisk or stir to blend.

7. Serve in mugs garnished with finely grated dark chocolate or sprinkled cocoa powder.
