Make Popcorn In A Commercial Popper

Large amounts of popcorn are made using a commercial popper.

Commercial poppers are designed to pop large volumes of popcorn in a short time. They are found in movie theaters, sporting events, fundraisers and anywhere that people may want a tasty treat. A popper is basically just a large cooking kettle suspended over a holding area. The kettle heats the kernels until internal steam causes them to cool and burst. If you are using a popper for the first time, it may seem intimidating, but the operation is actually quite simple. After a few practice rounds, you will be cranking out popcorn like a pro.

Instructions

1. Clean the inside of the popper thoroughly if it has not been used recently.

Clean the inside of the popper thoroughly if it has not been used recently. You don't want dust and debris getting into your popcorn.

2. Plug it in.

Plug in the popcorn machine.

3. Add oil to the kettle.

Add oil to the kettle, which is suspended from the top of the popper. The amount of oil that you use will be determined by the type and the amount of popcorn that you are popping. The oil container will tell you how much to use.

4. Turn on the heat and motor switches. The heat switch heats the kettle to 350 to 400 degrees, while the motor switch activates a rotating agitator within the kettle that keeps everything moving. Without this, the oil and popcorn would just sit and burn.

5. Add the popcorn kernels.

Add popcorn kernels to the kettle once the oil has heated.

6. Add salt.

Add salt to the kettle to taste.

7. Close the kettle's lid to prevent heat loss as the popcorn pops.

8. Allow the popcorn to overflow the kettle and spill into the holding area.

Allow the popping popcorn to overflow the kettle and spill into the popper's holding area. Most poppers come with a heat light that keeps this popcorn hot and fresh.

9. Turn off the kettle's heat as the popping begins to slow.

10. Use the kettle's handle to dump its into the holding area once the pops have slowed to one per second.

11. Turn off the motor switch to shut off the agitator.
