Stir Fry Sauce Ideas

Stir frying is made even easier with a variety of sauce choices.

Stir fry recipes are healthy, simple and cheap. They can also be personalized for any family. Just use fresh vegetables and the protein of your choice and choose one of the sauces below. When stir-frying, chop all of your ingredients before you start. It is a quick-cooking process so you will not have time to prep as you go.

Sweet and Sour

Mix 3/4 cup chicken stock, 1 tbsp .cornstarch, 2 tbsp. Mirin (Chinese rice wine), 1/2 tsp. sesame oil, 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. sugar. This is most commonly served with chicken or shrimp, broccoli and pineapple.

Oyster Sauce

Place 3/4 cup chicken stock, 1 tbsp. cornstarch, 1 tbsp. Mirin, 1 tbsp. soy sauce and 2 tsp. sesame oil in a bowl and mix well. Oyster sauce is best with seafood dishes. You can also find sauce bottled in the Oriental food section.

Orange Sauce

Mix 3/4 cup orange marmalade, 2 tbsp. soy sauce and - depending on your heat level - up to 3 tbsp. Siracha. Siracha is an extremely hot chile sauce, also known as rooster sauce. When combined with orange marmalade it gives your stir fry an intense sweet heat. Orange sauce is great with beef and broccoli.

Sweet Soy and Siracha

Combine equal amounts of sweet soy and Siracha and mix well. Sweet soy can be found at Oriental food stores and some major grocery store chains. It is exactly what it says, sweetened soy sauce. It is thick like molasses. Mix it with the Siracha for a stir fry sauce that is simple and great on any protein or vegetables.
