Cut Limes For A Gin & Tonic

Gin & tonic is a drink that contains gin, tonic water and lime juice. Sliced lime wedges add a touch of color and ornament to the glass, while tying in the lime flavor to the overall presentation. Cut your lime wedges properly to maintain the shape and avoid destroying the center of the fruit. Proper preparation and storing the slices in airtight, refrigerated containers will protect your lime wedges from contamination and bacteria.

Instructions

1. Wash the outer skin of the lime under cool running water. Slice the fruit in half with a paring knife, starting with the stem and continuing to the base.

2. Lay the lime on the cutting board with the cut side facing down. Slice each half of the lime in half lengthwise, producing quarters.

3. Slice each quarter in half lengthwise. Arrange all eight lime wedges on a cutting board. Cut a small horizontal slice approximately halfway down the inside of each wedge for attaching onto the rim of your drinks.
