According to "Forbes Traveler," Las Vegas hotels are in a cycle of one-upping each other when it comes to creating outrageously luxurious suites. Upgraded suite options in Las Vegas range from junior suites, which provide a little extra room in the form of a sitting area, all the way to a fantasy palace containing its own pool and basketball court. Although the most extreme suites are beyond the reach of most of us, there are quite a few Las Vegas hotel suites available to the average traveler. You just have to know go about getting one.

1. Ask to speak to the casino host when making your hotel reservations. Avoid attempting to negotiate room upgrades with reservations clerks at the hotel's front desk or main telephone number.Try to place your call during the local Vegas morning hours when hosts tend to be less busy. Form a relationship with the host, indicating you seek to become a long-term repeat customer of the property.
2. Be flexible in your travel plans; upgraded suites are very difficult to come by during holidays, weekends and major Vegas events. Ask the casino host which travel time is most conducive to receiving an upgrade at their hotel.
3. Have the host sign you up for the casino's frequent player club or program. Indicate to the host whether you will play blackjack, slots, roulette or other table games. Avoid mentioning interest in sports betting or poker--casinos will not give "comp" credits for play within those arenas. Introduce yourself in person to your host immediately upon arriving at the hotel.
4. Always use your slots player club card during each session. Give your player club card to the pit boss prior to initiating all table game play. Focus the majority of your play within the casino at the same hotel where you are staying. Exhibit loyalty to one property if you engage in repeat visits to Las Vegas.
5. Ask for an upgraded suite towards the end of each day of your stay even if you were initially denied one. Put your request in during the early evening after the day's normal check-in time has expired. Advise your host that you are amenable to change rooms to an upgraded suite at any time one may become available.
