Make A Chipotle Burrito

Before eating out at a Mexican restaurant, consider making a chipotle burrito at home. A burrito is a flour tortilla wrapped around a filling, which usually is a particular kind of meat or bean. Burritos usually contain spices, onions, peppers, beans and rice. The addition of chipotle peppers to a burrito adds additional spice and texture. The chipotle peppers are actually smoked and dried jalapeño peppers that have turned red during the fall season. Try making your own chipotle burrito at home the next time you crave spicy Mexican food.

Instructions

1. Trim off the excess fat from the boneless beef or chicken breast. Cut the meat into ¾-inch thick strips.

2. Place the meat into a Crockpot. Add the tomatoes, 1 chopped onion, chipotle peppers, oregano and ground cumin.

3. Cover the pot with a lid. Cook the boneless beef or chicken breast and the other ingredients on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours.

4. Shred the meat with a fork once it is finished cooking.

5. Spoon the meat onto a warm flour tortilla. Add only ¼ to 1/6th of the meat. Place the shredded boneless beef or chicken breast almost in the center of the tortilla.

6. Add shredded cheddar cheese, Pico de Gallo salsa and sour cream on top of the meat.

7. Fold the long side of the chipotle burrito over the filling. Use your hand to push the edge of the tortilla against the filling to ensure that it is tight.

8. Grab the short end of the tortilla and fold it over the first fold. Once you fold the first short end, fold the second short end over the same way to ensure that the contents do not spill out of the burrito.

9. Take the last end of the burrito, and fold it over the previous folds. Flip the chipotle burrito over to lay on a flat surface. Serve your chipotle burrito while it is still hot.
