Make Appetizers And Dips Ahead

Bruschetta is an easy appetizer that can be made ahead of time.

Appetizers and dips are an integral part of all types of parties. They provide nourishment to guests while you finish making dinner. If you make your appetizers and dips ahead of your guests' arrival, you will have more time to focus on cooking, entertaining your guests and enjoying your party. To save yourself time, you should stick with appetizer and dip recipes that are simple to create but seem elaborate enough to impress your guests. Rather than make your food from scratch, try a semihomemade approach in which you use ready-made ingredients to simplify food preparation.

Instructions

1. Clean out your refrigerator to make sure you have enough room to store your appetizers and dips before it is time to serve them or take the final step in the preparation process.

2. Choose dips that will maintain their flavor hours after the ingredients are mixed. Many cold dips actually taste better after refrigeration because refrigeration gives the ingredients time to meld together.

3. Finish as much of the preparation as you can and refrigerate appetizers and dips before heating. You can prepare ingredients ahead of time and assemble them right before your party or complete all the steps of the process so that all you have to do is pop the food into the oven for completion.

4. Save yourself time by purchasing frozen, packaged appetizers and premade dips. When it's time for your party, all you have to do is take the appetizers and dips out of the package, follow package instructions for preparation and serve them in a dish so that no one will ever know they are not homemade.

5. Prepare a simple bruschetta mixture or similar spread the day before the party so that all you have to do is bake the bread until crispy and spoon the mixture over the toasted pieces.

6. Store dips and appetizer ingredients in stackable, plastic storage containers that make it easy to store several containers in your refrigerator. When it's time for your party, simply transfer the food from the plastic containers into your fancy serving dishes.
