Make Au Gratin Potato Casserole

Au gratin potato casserole makes a great side dish.

Casseroles are great classic dishes that everyone seems to like, but they can also make great side dishes. Most people enjoy potatoes and cheese, so why not combine the two? Here's make an au gratin potato casserole.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a medium-sized pot on the stove half-filled with water. Bring it to a boil. Wash and peel your potatoes. Then cut the potatoes into chunks about the size of a half dollar coin. Place the potato chunks in the boiling water and let them soften in it for about 8 minutes.

2. Slowly stir the flour and milk into a medium saucepan in which you have melted three tablespoons of butter. The sauce should have a fairly liquid consistency to it. Add a cup of shredded cheese. Your sauce should thicken.

3. Strain the potatoes and place the chunks in a casserole dish. Pour the sauce over the potatoes and mix well. After the potatoes and sauce are well mixed, sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese and bread crumbs over the dish and then melt the last three tablespoons of butter and pour it over the bread crumbs.

4. Bake the casserole for 30 minutes. Let the casserole sit for approximately 10 minutes. Enjoy!
