Identification


The berry comes from the goji plant which usually grows between eight and 10 feet in height. The plant produces purple and blue flowers as well as red berries. The berries themselves are roughly the size of grapes.

The plants thrive in hot and dry climates with lots of sunlight. Utah is one of the more famed states for producing the plants.

Goji berries contain 19 amino acids, eight of which are considered essential to your daily health. In terms of vitamins, a typical goji berry has 500 times more vitamin C by weight than an orange. The berries also contain vitamin E, which is rare in fruits.
