How Dilute Hot Guacamole Dip

Guacamole dip can be served with crackers.

Nothing spices up your table better than a hot guacamole dip. It is made with avocados, salt, and a variety of other ingredients such as chopped tomatoes, onion, lime juice, jalapeno peppers or cayenne pepper. It is a perfect addition to a Mexican meal, an easy dip for tortilla chips, and can give a Southwest flavor as a spread. Some people love the sweet heat of hot guacamole dips, while others can find the spice level overwhelming. Luckily, there are options to dilute the dip to satisfy every palate. Sugar, acids, and dairy products should do the trick.

Instructions

1. Place the hot guacamole dip in a small mixing bowl. If you made your own dip, keep the dip in the mixing bowl you used.

2. Adding more avocado will lower the spiciness of the dip.

Cut open one extra avocado and scoop out the insides. Place into the bowl with the dip. Adding avocado will dilute the heat of the dip.

3. Add sour cream, and mix into the dip with a spoon. Dairy products act as a base and will help to balance out the heat in a dish.

4. Mix in the honey. The sweetness will help to counter the hot spices and will bring out the sweetness in the other ingredients.

5. If the dip is still too hot for your taste level, squeeze the juice from half a lime into the dip. Not only is lime a common guacamole flavor, but the acidity will help take away the harsh heat.
