Prepare White Rice In A Rice Cooker

Rice is a popular, important staple food in countries all over the world.

Rice cookers are popular in homes and restaurants all over the world because they produce a near-perfect serving of rice every time with little effort, allowing you to focus on other dishes you are serving. Most rice cookers also keep rice warm for several hours after cooking without drying out the rice, unlike stovetop pans and microwave-safe bowls.

Instructions

1. Put 1 cup of rice in a fine-mesh sieve or regular kitchen strainer. Rinse the rice under cool, running tap water for 2 minutes to remove any dirt or debris packaged with the rice. Do not rinse jasmine or basmati rice varieties, as they can lose their subtle flavor. Allow the rice to drain for 30 minutes.

2. Add the rinsed rice and 1 cup of filtered water to the rice cooker and stir the mixture to combine with a wooden spoon.

3. Put the top on the rice cooker and turn it on. Allow the rice cooker to work without lifting the top until the indicator light or knob on the front panel shows that cooking is complete. Allow the rice to rest for 10 minutes after the indicator light or knob shows that the rice is fully cooked.

4. Serve the rice using a wooden or plastic serving spoon after 10 minutes has passed. This will help to prevent damage to the non-stick surface inside most rice cookers.
