Get A Burn Smell Out Of The Apartment

Remove burn smells to make your home pleasant again.

Burn smells linger may remain in your apartment for weeks. Smells often linger the most on porous items such as walls and carpets. A burn smell may remain due to burned food, a fireplace or cigarette smoke. Regardless of the culprit, the smell becomes unpleasant and sometimes unbearable. Air fresheners only mask the odors instead of removing them completely. Remove the smoke smell from the apartment with items you have around your home.

Instructions

1. Open all the windows in the apartment to allow the air to circulate. Turn on fans to help the air move.

2. Pour white or apple cider vinegar into shallow bowls. Place the bowls in the rooms where you notice the burn smell the most. Allow the vinegar to absorb the odors and replace the vinegar after three to four days until you remove the smoke smell completely.

3. Wipe the walls down with an all-purpose cleaner or mild dish washing liquid. Burn smells often stick to other surfaces and may remain behind on the walls.

4. Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet to absorb any burn smells. Let the baking soda remain on the carpet overnight and vacuum it up the following day.

5. Pour 1 1/2 cups of water into a microwave safe bowl to remove smoke smells from the microwave. Add three chopped lemons to the water. Boil the water in the microwave. Turn the microwave off and allow the steam to remain inside for 15 minutes.
