Neutralize Hot Sauce


When you are watching multiple pots on the stovetop or are distracted by something happening in another room, it is very easy to add too much hot sauce to your gumbo or marinade. Luckily, you are not the first person to make this mistake. The same thing has happened to culinary expert Peter Martin, chili aficionado Wayne Preston Allen and members of the Berkeley Student Cooperative. They have a few suggestions about quickly salvage your meal.


Instructions


Fix It With Pineapple


1. Open the can of crushed pineapple.








2. Dump all of the contents of the can into your dish and mix thoroughly.


3. Using the teaspoon, take a small taste of the dish to ensure that the hot sauce has been neutralized.


Fix It With a Potato


4. Peel the potato.


5. Immediately place it in the dish that has too much hot sauce.


6. When it is time to serve the dish, remove the potato with a slotted spoon and discard.
