Valentine'S Snacks For Kids







Try some different snacks for kids on Valentine's Day.


Valentine's Day parties for grade school children are a highlight of the post-Christmas winter season. However, like most holiday parties for kids, the amount of sugary snacks can be overwhelming. Try some Valentine-themed snacks that a tasty change of pace from cookies and candy.


Tea Sandwich Valentines


These dainty sandwiches are set apart from most lunchbox fare with the addition of cream cheese and cranberry sauce. Spread one slice of whole-grain white bread with a thin layer of cream cheese and lay a turkey slice on top. Spread gelled cranberry sauce on another slice and place it on top of the first slice. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to make small finger sandwiches.








Valentine Party Mix


Combine lightly salted popcorn, peanuts or soy nuts, pretzel loops and dried cherries in a bowl. Serve the mix in small paper cups. See if there are any peanut allergic kids in your child's classroom before using them. If so, omit or substitute soy nuts.


Valentine Crudités


Make a platter featuring only red vegetables, such as sliced red bell pepper, grape tomatoes and radishes. Add fruits such as red grapes and strawberries, if desired. Place a bowl of ranch dressing tinted pink with red food coloring in the center of the platter.
