Open Sparkling Wine

Keep the carbonation inside the bottle when opening sparkling wine.

Although it may be flashy, opening a bottle of sparkling wine with a sword is not advisable-especially if the goal is to enjoy the wine. Sparkling wine contains carbonation and the loud popping explosion of wine spraying all over lessens the taste, based on the carbonation lost. There is a proper method available for you to open sparkling wine which keeps the carbonation inside the bottle. Use it when you open your next bottle and not only will you find the wine tastes better, but you will also have more of it to drink.

Instructions

1. Tear the foil surrounding the cork. Expose the wire cage. Discard the foil.

2. Point the bottle away from people and breakable surfaces. Untwist the wire on the side and remove the wire cage.

3. Hold the bottle firmly in one hand and the cork in the other. Twist the bottle slowly. Release the cork.

4. Avoid explosive ejections of the wine by a slow twist-off. Catch any drips or spills in the wine glasses.
