Clean A Liquor Flask

Liquor flasks are convenient and fit easily in your jacket pocket or bag. If you take care of it, your liquor flask will give you years of service. However, many people are puzzled when it comes to properly cleaning a flask. A liquor flask doesn't require a special cleaning solution, harsh cleaner or any special tools to clean it. To properly clean your liquor flask, all you need is some soap and water.

Cleaning

Cleaning your liquor flask is not difficult. To make a simple soap solution for cleaning, mix 1 tsp of dish soap in a pot with 1 cup of hot water. Stir the soap solution with a spoon to agitate it. Wear rubber gloves if you don't want to get your hands wet and a apron or other cover up. Make sure the flask is empty. Then pour the soap solution into the flask and put the lid on it. Shake the flask around several times so the soap solution can wash the inside of the flask. After shaking, pour out the solution and fill the flask with hot water. Put the lid back on and shake the hot water around in the flask and it pour out. Repeat the hot water process several times to remove any remaining soap. Don't forget to rinse the lid also.

If any grime is present on the liquor flask, use a old toothbrush to scrub it off.

Drying

Let the flask air dry with its lid off on a counter or other surface. If the liquor flask is metal, you can speed up the drying process by placing the flask in a 350 degree F oven for five minutes to dry. You don't have to place it in a pan---just place it on a oven rack. Make sure you use a potholder to remove the metal flask. Once the metal flask is dry, let it cool before using it.

Tips

Clean your liquor flask after each use and before refilling, especially if you change liquors. If the flask is new, rinse it with clean water before using it for the first time. You can also use the soap solution method of cleaning to clean your new flask.
