Make An Angel Food Cake

Making your own angel food cake is much more appealing than that off-white and bland styrofoam you can buy from your local grocery store's bakery. Unlike most cakes, Angel Food is actually very airy and light. It is fairly healthy to eat as well. Angel Food makes a great base for a myriad of deserts like strawberry shortcake.

Instructions

1. Beat the egg whites in a bowl until forming steak peaks.

2. Add cream of tartar, vanilla extract and almond extract.

3. Sift the flour, salt and sugar together. Repeat 5 times.

4. Gently combine the dry ingredients with half of the egg whites by gently folding until incorporated then add remaining egg whites and combine fully.

5. Pour batter into tube pan.

6. Place the cake pan, with batter, inside of the cold oven.

7. Turn the oven on to 325 degrees, and cook one hour or until the cake is golden brown.

8. Remove pan from oven and invert on to a plate.

9. Allow cake to cool completely. Remove the pan.
