Use A Tiger Rice Cooker

Use a Tiger Rice Cooker

Tiger Rice cookers are electronic steamers that make rice and can be used to steam other foods, such as vegetables. There are a variety of Tiger Rice cooker models. Some have digital controls with memories, and others, such as the Lovely Flower model, are basic rice cookers with a button that turns the cooker on, and two lights which indicate if the rice is cooking or the warmer is on. All models have a top that opens, and an inner cooking pan where the rice and water are placed. Understanding use the basic Lovely Flower model will allow most users to easily convert to another Tiger Rice Cooker model.

Instructions

1. Look at the front of the rice cooker. There should be two light indicators. When the rice cooker is cooking the food, one indicator light will be on. When the cooker is finished cooking, yet warming the food, the first light will turn off and the second light will turn on.

2. Look for the button or lever on the lid of the cooker. There should be a button that needs to be pushed, that will release the hinge of the lid and allow it to open. Open the lid.

3. Pull out the inner pan. After you open the lid you will be able to pull out the inner pan, and add the rice and water.

4. Measure the rice and water and add to the inner pan. White, short grain rice typically takes one part water to one part rice. Brown rice will require more water. Refer to the rice package for the correct amount of water to add for the brand of rice you are using. Before adding rice, note the maximum capacity of the rice cooker. Rice will expand about three times. Do not overfill the rice cooker.

5. Insert the inner pan into the rice cooker and close the lid so that it snaps shut.

6. Plug the rice cooker's cord from the cooker to the electrical outlet.

7. Push the lever button down on the face of the rice cooker (on the Lovely Flower model) so the cooker turns on. The light indicating cooking should now be lit. Digital models may have a button that says "Start" that will be pushed instead of a lever. When the rice is finished cooking the cooking light will go off, and the warmer light will go on.

8. Unplug the rice cooker when you are finished using and no longer need to keep the rice warm.
