Cook Fresh Corn On The Cob On The Stove Top

Cook fresh corn on the cob in a matter of minutes on a stove top.

Fresh corn on the cob is a summertime delicacy. Due to its naturally sweet flavor, corn on the cob can be eaten with nothing more than butter and a sprinkle of salt. There are several ways to cook fresh-shucked corn on the cob, such as grilling and microwaving. The easiest way to prepare the corn on a stove top is by boiling it. Be sure not to overcook the corn or it might loose some of its sweet flavor.

Instructions

1. Fill a large pot or kettle with water and bring it to a boil. Don't add salt to the water because it can make the corn kernels tough.

2. Remove the husks and silk from the corn on the cob. Place the ears of corn into the boiling water.

3. Cover the pan with a lid and bring the water back to a boil. Cook the corn 3 to 5 minutes, or until the kernels are tender. Test the kernels for tenderness by gently prodding them with a fork.

4. Drain the water from the pot and transfer the ears of corn onto a serving platter.
