Use A Chocolate Chipper

After using a chocolate chipper for the first time, you'll never want to buy a bag of chocolate chips again. The chipper allows you to break off pieces of high-quality chocolate. There is no waxy coating like the bagged chocolate chips have. The chocolate chipper looks like a large fork with six thin and sharp metal fingers. It effortlessly pulls chocolate apart.

Instructions

1. Buy a bar of chocolate. Pick whatever flavor--white, milk or dark--you prefer.

2. Unwrap the bar and place it on a cutting board. You'll want to protect your counter top from being punctured or damaged.

3. Hold the chocolate chipper in your strong hand. Make sure the utensil is straight up and down.

4. Poke the chipper into the chocolate. Keep the utensil near the end of the chunk so you don't try to chip off too much chocolate at once.

5. Use both hands to press the chocolate chipper firmly into the chunk or block of chocolate. Put your weight behind it. Press down until it hits the cutting board.

6. Pull away the chocolate that you've separated. Go a little further into the block and press the chipper into the chocolate again. Repeat until you have enough chocolate chips for your recipe.

7. Wash the chocolate chipper with soap and water or put it in the dishwasher with your other utensils.
